NEWCASTLE United have already moved on from the Hugo Ekitike saga after missing out on the Eintracht Frankfurt star last week, writes AARON STOKES.
The Frenchman will instead join Liverpool after his medical was completed in London in recent days.
As more details emerge regarding the Reds’ £79m swoop, it is perhaps easy to see why Newcastle did not submit a second bid for the longtime Eddie Howe target.
Ekitike appears set to earn £13m per year at Anfield, working out at £250,000 per week. This, on top of the £370,000 per week Liverpool will pay record signing Florian Wirtz.
Both men have seemingly had their wages quadrupled by moving to Merseyside, with Newcastle completely unable to match such spending with their current wage structure.
