MP asks PM to speed up vital repairs at college

AN MP has urged Sir Keir Starmer to speed up funds to help repair the “appalling” structural problems at a Wallsend college.

Newcastle East and Wallsend MP Mary Glindon raised the state of Churchill Community College in the Commons during Prime Minister's Questions this week.
The college was found to contain the same weak and brittle concrete ~ and now-disused construction method - as Fordley Primary, Hazlewood Community Primary, and Grasmere Academy back in early 2024.
The inspections which discovered the alarming faults were sparked by the partial collapse of Fordley Primary School's ceiling in December 2023.
