A TRAINEE plumber who was spotted smoking cannabis in his car claimed it was to ease pain in his wisdom teeth.

Gill Charlton, pictured, was in his parked-up vehicle, which had the engine running, on a street in Alnwick when he was seen smoking the drug by a member of the fire service.
