Man and ex-Sunak aide on election gambling charge

A NEWCASTLE man has appeared in court with a former MP who has been accused of cheating by illegally gambling on the 2024 General Election.
Iain Makepeace, 47, was at Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday.
He appeared alongside former Montgomeryshire and Cardiff North Conservative MP Craig Williams, 39, who was a former parliamentary private secretary to former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. As well as Mr Williams and Mr Makepeace, 13 others were charged with similar offences.
These include Tory member of Senedd, Russell George, 50, and suspended director of the Welsh Conservatives, Thomas James, 38.
