CARE home staff are calling for the people of the North East to send birthday cards to a “glamorous” retired nurse who is soon to turn 100 years old.

Maisie Dalziel will celebrate her birthday milestone on June 5.
Born in 1925 in County Durham, she moved to Newcastle during the Second World War - when her father went to work at the Vickers factory in the city. Now, she lives at Fleming Court in Jesmond, Newcastle.
She “devoted her career to nursing”, the team at Fleming Court said. They added: “In her younger days, she was known for her glamorous style and love of ballroom dancing - a true social spirit who lit up every room she entered.”
