GATESHEAD Council bosses have approved new charges for the long awaited Quays multi-storey car park on Hawkes Road.

The £23m project is scheduled to open on Monday, despite being largely completed in early 2023.

The local authority's cabinet approved a new set of parking and electric vehicle charging fees for the car park, set to be open seven days a week, from 6am to midnight. The fees have been modelled on the nearby Quarryfield Road car park.
