FORMER MAGPIE SAYS COST OF UNITED'S STAR MAN IS STICKING POINT FOR INTERESTED CLUBS

- By DAMIAN SPELLMAN

'Isak is going nowhere'

ALEXANDER Isak is set to stay with Newcastle United into the next season as his price tag is beyond the reach of potential buyers.

This perspective comes from ex-Magpies defender John Anderson, amid rampant rumours about the Swedish international's future at the club after he missed the team's initial preseason match against Celtic on Saturday.

The 25-year-old forward was back in the spotlight last week when it emerged that Premier League titleholders Liverpool were willing to bid £120m - a figure £30m below Newcastle's firm asking price - if he were up for grabs.

Speaking to PA news agency, Anderson remarked: "Once you've got good players and you've got very, very good players, they're always going to be linked with other teams.

"That's always been the nature of the game and that's never, ever going to go away.
