Hospice facing deficit of over £1m this year

A NORTH East hospice is facing a deficit of more than £1 million this year.
The boss of St Oswald's Hospice told councillors last week that escalating costs had left the Gosforth-based charity with a “very big” financial shortfall.
Hospice chief executive Steph Edusei also criticised the recently-announced abolition of NHS England, saying the shifting sands within the nation’s healthcare system were an “absolute nightmare” to navigate.
