Heartbreak as charity volunteer dies aged 33
The Journal
|September 26, 2025
A NEWCASTLE charity volunteer who 'brightened up every room' has died suddenly aged 33.
Amy Scott tragically passed away at her home in Westerhope on September 5, and is being honoured by Benwell charity Search.
Amy was a lunch club volunteer with the charity for over eight years, determined not to let her own special educational needs stop her from helping others.
She supported the elderly who attended the sessions, bringing them so much joy.
Sadly, Amy died due to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) leading to complications with a blood clot.
She went into cardiac arrest at home but, despite the efforts of paramedics, Amy devastatingly could not be saved.
Dad Steve and her auntie Susan Bell praised the emergency crews who did everything they could for “bubbly” Amy.
