HATE crimes recorded by Northumbria Police in North Tyneside are up 10%, a report has found.

Figures from North Tyneside Council's Prevent Risk Assessment have found a 10% overall rise in the 12 months up to February 2025 in hate crime. The current figure stands at 451 recorded crimes.

The report says: “While the rate of hate crime remains lower in North Tyneside than the regional and national averages, it remains an issue in the borough that has low levels of ethnic diversity, so any increases are a concern to be explored.
