Group acquires Maxim Brewery

A NORTH East brewery which was formed following the closure of a historic beer maker has been snapped up by a growing drinks firm.
Powder Monkey Group Limited has acquired Maxim Brewery, based in Houghton-le-Spring, in a deal it said reinforces both the capability and capacity in the North East.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed. The transaction comes months after Powder Monkey swooped for Castle Eden Brewery.
Maxim was formed in the year of the closure of Sunderland's Vaux Breweries - a closure which led to hundreds of job losses. Two former Vaux directors and the former head brewer have created the new company. Together, they resurrected the popular Samson and Double Maxim lines.
