BIG-SPENDING Sunderland are to splash out big once again after agreeing a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder and former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka.

- By CLIVE YOULTON Football writer

The Black Cats have secured a host of new additions, including Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, and Reinildo Mandava, but they aren’t stopping there and are looking to continue strengthening their squad.

Surviving in England’s top flight appears to be getting harder and harder, so significant investment is necessary if Sunderland want to remain in the Premier League.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed the impressive transfer via X.

Romano claimed Sunderland have agreed a deal to sign Xhaka on a contract until 2027. All parties have agreed on a move, with the green light given from Leverkusen. Xhaka is set to fly to Wearside to complete the deal.
