A MAN is hoping to break a world record by becoming the fastest octogenarian to cycle from Land’s End to John O'Groats.

Eddie McGourley, 83, from Houghton-le-Spring, set off from Land’s End alongside his friend Stephen Foster, 71, yesterday morning. The pair hope to reach Scotland’s north east tip by Wednesday, July 8.
