THE first weekend of the Hoppings brought the crowds flocking to the Town Moor in Newcastle.
Intense heat, especially on Saturday, was broken by the occasional sharp shower as one of the largest and longest-running fairgrounds in the world returned for its annual stint.
The heat meant the slush stands dotted around the alleys were always busy, with people able to quench their thirst in the oppressive heat.
