India to send High ommissioner to Canada

India is planning to restore high commissioner-level relations with Canada. It will review its envoys and some diplomats in Ottawa.
In October last year, rejecting “allegations of terrorism” linking “persons of interest” in an investigation into a murder case of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Seasoned diplomat Dinesh Patnaik is being considered for the post, according to people in the know. Patnaik, a 1990-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, is currently India’s ambassador to Spain. Earlier, he represented India in Morocco and Cambodia besides being the Director-General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi. Patnaik had also served in Dhaka and Berlin early in his career.
