GAZA SITUATION: Children among 8 killed in Israeli strike as Gaza observes first day of Eid: Rescuers

Gaza’s civil defence agency has said that an Israeli air strike on a house and a tent sheltering displaced people killed at least eight, including five children, as Palestinians observed the first day of Eid al Fitr, AFP reports.

The strike occurred as both Hamas and Israel acknowledged receiving a new truce proposal from mediators aimed at halting the offensive in Gaza during the holiday.

Netanyahu to visit Hungary on April 2 despite war crimes warrant

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit Hungary on April 2, AFP quotes his office as saying, defy-ing an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant issued over allegations of war crimes in Gaza.

During his visit, Netanyahu is set to hold talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and other senior Hungarian officials before return-ing to Israel on April 6.

Orban extended an invitation to Netanyahu despite the ICC’s arrest warrant issued last year. One day after the ICC decision in November, Netanyahu thanked Orban for his show of what he called “moral clarity” in memorising the statute.
