Ex-Sabaragamuwa Provincial Minister charged with “highway” robbery and remanded

Former Sabaragamuwa Province Minister of Highways and Sports, Athula Kumara Rahubadda, was remanded on Thursday (18) until 02 October by the Embilipitiya Magistrate's Court after being arrested on charges of defrauding the state to the tune of Rs. 70 million.
Rahubadda was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the 17th in connection with alleged large-scale financial irregularities, linked to projects carried out under his Ministry, between 2016 and 2017.
