CP Radhakrishnan from Tamil Nadu is India’s new Vice-President

India’s ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan was elected as the new Vice-President of India on Tuesday night.
Radhakrishnan defeated the opposition INDIA bloc’s B Sudershan Reddy, a retired judge of the Supreme Court with a comfortable majority. He was backed by 427 MPs—well above the majority threshold of 391—in contrast to his opponent.
