Family braves icy sea waters

For a good cause The McDonalds prepare to take to the water

A fearless Irvine councillor teamed up with two cousins to brave icy waters for a very good cause on New Year's Day.

Cllr Nairn McDonald began 2026 by taking part in the event to support families living with Motor Neurone Disease.

For the family, the freezing challenge became a powerful act of love and hope.

Sophia McDonald (14) Councillor Nairn Angus-McDonald, and Aaran McDonald - raised over £1300 for MND Scotland after taking part in a polar plunge at Irvine Beach, running into the icy sea to support people living with MND.
