We need to be much more resilient, insists Grant

HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Lee Grant acknowledges that the “resilience of the group has to go up” after his side again struggled in adversity at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

- By STEPHEN PAGE

The Terriers were reduced to ten men at Adams Park when Alfie May was shown a straight red card in the 25th minute, with the scoreline at 0-0.

Town were unable to deal with the setback, as goals from Cauley Woodrow, Fred Onyedinma and an own goal from Dan Vost consigned the visitors to a convincing 3-0 loss.

The Terriers’ third straight defeat in League One has seen them drop to ninth in the table, with Saturday's reverse leaving them on 19 points from 13 matches played.

Having taken 12 points from their opening five matches, Grant's side have claimed a further seven from the eight games that have followed to leave them five points adrift of the playoff places.

Citing other defeats such as Blackpool and Bradford City where his team have failed to deal with setbacks, Grant told BBC Radio Leeds: “For me now, the learning that we're having has been condensed into these 12 or 13 games - we haven't taken the learning in my opinion.
