KAREN BARKER ADMITTED ABUSING POSITION TO TAKE MONEY FROM DEMOLITION FIRM TO FUND HER DRUG AND ALCOHOL ADDICTION

- BY JOHN DAVIES AND SOPHIE CORCORAN

A FORMER office manager who abused her position at a Calderdale demolition firm to get money to fund her drug and alcohol addiction has been jailed for 30 months.

Karen Barker's offending came to light back in 2021 and despite her making full admissions during a police interview later that year, her case didn’t reach the courts until last month.

During her first hearing at Bradford Magistrates’ Court the 49-year-old, of Banksfield Avenue, Mytholmroyd, pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position relating to a total sum of more than £190,000.
