Grant throws down gauntlet to forwards

HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Lee Grant says he has “thrown the gauntlet down” to his strikers to make a starting spot their own following recent contributions from Dion Charles and Bojan Radulovic.
The duo have found themselves behind Alfie May and Joe Taylor in the pecking order this season, but have put in impressive showings in recent games.
The pair started up front together last time out against Plymouth Argyle, with both getting on the scoresheet in the 3-1 victory, while Charles also registered two assists.
Discussing the duo’s latest contributions post-match, Grant told HTTV: “I've thrown the gauntlet down a little bit to the strikers and to the forwards in general in recent weeks, simply because I feel like if somebody really wants to grab it and run with it, they can.
“I want players to play every week, every training session, every game as though they've got an opportunity to secure a start for the next week, and fight for their teammates.
“It’s really nice that we've managed to over the recent weeks get them on the scoresheet again - Dion’s contribution with the assists as well, magnificent.
