PLYMOUTH Gladiators have confirmed British sensation Danny King as their number one rider for the 2026 Speedway Championship season.

The vastly experienced 39-year-old joins seven-time British champions and fellow veteran Scott Nicholls, 47, in committing to the Gladiators for the new season - a further statement of intent from the club who are going all guns blazing for success this coming season.
King, himself a former British Champion (2016) and multi-times GB international team rider, has just completed a highly successful season, winning top flight title honours with his longtime Premiership club Ipswich Witches - and winning the BSN Team Trophy with his now former Championship club, Redcar Bears.
King has previously been a League Championship winning team member with Poole Pirates in 2021 and 2022 and a multi-times Knock-Out Cup winner with Poole and Ipswich.
Gladiators promoter and club owner Mark Phillips could not hide his excitement with his new signing and said: “Danny is a consummate professional with an outstanding record over many seasons.
“His performances in 2025 in winning silverware in the Premier League with Ipswich and the Championship with Redcar showed that he retains all of his ability, hunger and desire to win.
