Royal recognition with Honours

THE King’s Birthday Honours list for 2026 has been published with hundreds of people across the UK recognised - including several from Plymouth (shown left).
The honours are granted to people who make outstanding contributions to their community and the country and include dozens of famous faces and celebrities as well as everyday heroes and charity champions.
Among those recognised in this year’s Birthday Honours is Rugby league great Kevin Sinfield who has been given a knighthood for his services to the MND community, as well as for services to league and union rugby.
Sir Kevin has raised more than £10 million for MND charities after being inspired by former Leeds Rhinos team-mate Rob Burrow, who died in 2024.
The Gruffalo writer Julia Donaldson and Noughts and Crosses author Malorie Blackman have both received damehoods for their services to literature.
