Plea to get city gran home after she falls ill in Spain

A PLYMOUTH family are desperately appealing to help get their gran back from Spain.

Sue Collins became extremely poorly over in Benidorm when on a family holiday. The 74-year-old is currently very unwell, both physically and emotionally, and has been admitted to a secure unit. In the past week since her admission, her husband, Brian, has only been able to see her once.

The husband and wife from the Hooe area of Plymouth, who have been married for 54 years, were on holiday in Spain when she became unwell. Brian remains in Spain, as does one of their daughters, but the rest of the family had to fly back home to England – but ‘couldn’t stop crying when the realisation of the situation sunk in.

Sue’s granddaughter Alana Harrison has started a GoFundMe page to try and raise enough money to allow her granddad to remain in Alicante while his wife is in hospital. And she is desperately hoping that her nan will be able to return home soon – but they have absolutely no idea when that might be, and contact with staff at the Hospital Marina Baixa is limited due to the language barrier.
