NATHANAEL Ogbeta was one of the many players who left Plymouth Argyle in the summer after their relegation from the Championship as he joined Barnsley on a season-long loan.

Ogbeta had been the Pilgrims' first signing after Wayne Rooney was appointed as their head coach in 2024 but he went on to make only 11 starts plus nine substitute appearances as he was in and out of the team.

So it was no surprise that Ogbeta moved on in the summer, with Barnsley boss and former Argyle midfielder Conor Hourihane, taking him to the South Yorkshire club.

Ogbeta was ineligible to play for the Reds in their season-opening 3-1 win against the Pilgrims at Home Park but has featured in 13 of their 14 League One games since then, including 11 in the starting lineup.

Barnsley are currently in 10th position but have played fewer games than all of the team above them in the table, in some cases two or three less, so are in a good place to push for promotion this term.

Barnsley Chronicle chief reporter Jack Tolson has given this update to Herald Sport on how Ogbeta's season-long loan from Argyle is going:
