Mitchell open to idea of Argyle summer switch

ON-LOAN defender Alex Mitchell would 'definitely consider' a permanent move to Plymouth Argyle in the summer should Championship club Charlton Athletic be prepared to let him leave.
Mitchell joined the Pilgrims in August, a couple of weeks into their 2025/26 League One campaign, and has become a firm favourite with his teammates as well as the Green Army.
The centre-back has started 28 league games this season, and only midfielder Malachi Boateng, who has been an ever present over the 34 fixtures, has managed more than that.
Head coach Tom Cleverley revealed last month that Argyle were 'starting early conversations' about turning Mitchell's loan into a permanent transfer this summer, and the 24-year-old has admitted would be open to that idea.
Mitchell has enjoyed working under Cleverley and appreciated his support when he was dealing with some family issues earlier in the season.
"I feel like I have got responsibility here," said Mitchell. "Like Mal, you are playing every week, you are trying to drive standards in the building.
"I think he (Cleverley) has definitely worked on my positional play off the ball, the technicalities of that. I have definitely improved on the ball here.
"I have learned left-side (centre-back) now. If you had asked me two years ago to play left side I probably would have had a sleepless night!
