Marine scientist nominated for major accolade

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR PLYMOUTH ACADEMIC
A PROFESSOR at Plymouth Marine Laboratory has been nominated as the UK’s ‘national champion’ in a scientific competition which offers three prizes of a million Swiss francs.
Professor Steve Widdicombe, Director of Science at PML, is one of 23 researchers from 23 countries nominated for the 2024 National Champions of the Frontiers Planet Prize.
The Frontiers Planet Prize, awarded by Switzerland’s Frontiers Research Foundation, recognises scientists whose research “contributes to accelerating solutions that ensure humanity remains safely within the boundaries of the Earth’s ecosystem”.
