ARGYLE STARLET PENS HIS FIRST PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT
PLYMOUTH Argyle's youngest-ever player, Freddie Issaka, signed his first professional contract on his 17th birthday yesterday.
Truro-born Issaka made club history when he made his first team debut, as a substitute in an EFL Trophy tie away to Newport County in August 2021, at the age of 15 years and 34 days.
Earlier this summer he and Argyle first-year apprentice Joe Hatch played for Wales at the European Under-17 Championship finals.
Issaka has played regularly in the Pilgrims' pre-season games this month and scored the winning goal in a 1-0 defeat of Scottish Premiership side Hearts in Spain.
Argyle head of player development Kevin Nancekivell told the club's official website: "It is fantastic news that Freddie has signed a pro deal. Freddie has done great since he has been here as an under-12.
