Institution of monarchy is now ripe for review

AS much as obscene circumstances have quite rightly removed the Duke of York from our extremely wealthy top tier of unelected royals, surely now must be an excellent time for a comprehensive monarchy review, with democracy and public services now under far-right threat.

There is a key question which needs to be asked. Should the UK continue with hereditary monarchy or - like many other developed democratic countries - opt for change to a republic with an elected head of state, living a near-normal lifestyle much closer to ordinary people?
