Crawford strikes twice in big victory for Argyle Women

PLYMOUTH Argyle had a commanding 5-1 victory over Bridgwater United in the FA Women's National League Cup Group A at Home Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Greens took control early on and never looked back, with Olivia Francis opening the scoring inside the first 10 minutes before Phoebie Poole calmly converted from the spot to double the lead.
Francis, who was delighted to net her first goal at Home Park, said: "I'm really happy to finally get off the mark. I feel like I have grown in confidence now in the team. It has taken me a few games to get into it but I'm really happy to get on the scoresheet."
Captain Imy Crawford once again proved influential in midfield, striking twice with two almost carbon-copy finishes from the edge of the area, while forward Charlotte Whitmore added further gloss to the scoreline with a composed effort of her own. The result keeps Argyle firmly at the top of Group A and highlights their attacking depth, with four different players finding the net.
Bridgwater, reduced to 10 players in the second half, rallied late on and grabbed a consolation but it did little to take the shine off another dominant Argyle performance in front of their home supporters.
