HEAD COACH BOOKED AGAIN IN ARGYLE'S TROPHY WIN AT ORIENT

- By CHRIS ERRINGTON

TOM Cleverley declared ‘I’m not going to take my emotion away from the game’ after his latest yellow card this season during Plymouth Argyle's 1-0 Vertu Trophy victory over Leyton Orient.

Cleverley was angered that his side were not awarded a second half penalty in the round of 32 tie when Orient’s Tommy Simkin came out to make a punched clearance and instead caught Argyle defender Alex Mitchell, who flicked the ball narrowly wide of the goal..

A short while later, referee Sam Mulhall went across to speak to the fourth official, David Hutton, who indicated towards Cleverley.

That resulted in Cleverley receiving his fourth yellow card of the season, with the previous ones coming in the home game against Barnsley and the away matches at Lincoln City and Luton - and in the latter he ended up being sent-off.

The contentious incident against Orient came after Cleverley thought Northampton Town defender Jordan Thorniley should have been dis missed for a second bookable offence in the first half of the game against Argyle at Home Park on Saturday.
