Cleverley keen to have Ralls fit and firing for Port Vale

Joe Ralls has penned a short-term deal with Plymouth Argyle

The 32-year-old former Cardiff City captain and midfielder joined the Pilgrims as a free agent last week, on a short-term contract until January, and had two days of training before the match at Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Ralls has not played in a game since the end of last season and while Cleverley wanted to call upon him against Huddersfield, given all the injuries Argyle have at the moment he did not want to push him 'too soon'.

The experienced midfielder was expected to get some game time in the Vertu Trophy tie away to Bristol Roverslast night, but the main target for Ralls is to be ready for the trip to Port Vale, which is going to be a vital one for both sides.
