PLYMOUTH MP Johnny Mercer is seeking "outside interventions" improve the situation for patients and staff working in primary healthcare in the city.
The move comes after the Conservative MP had to spend 21 hours on a chair in a corridor at Derriford Hospital in intense discomfort, and while he praised health staff and hospital chief executive Ann James, he said that not enough is being done to meet demand.
Last Thursday, the MP for Plymouth Moor View announced on Twitter that he was in hospital with a herniated disc in his neck. The message came alongside a picture of him on a hospital chair with a drip.
The MP added on Twitter that he "spent 21 hours on a chair in a corridor in intense discomfort, admiring the incredible staff, like everyone else" He has since added on Twitter: "Plymouth: I know you get frustrated with the waits at Derriford at the moment. Mustn't blame staff or people who work there. They are truly special people, the very best of Plymouth, working in a nearly impossible system.
