City airport talks enter 'formal mediation'

COUNCIL AND SUTTON HARBOUR GROUP IN CRUCIAL DISCUSSIONS
TALKS about the future of Plymouth's disused airport have reached a crucial stage as work continues on plans to build on the land.
Plymouth City Council and leaseholder Sutton Harbour Group Plc (SHG) have been locked in talks for more than 18 months and now it has emerged they have entered a formal mediation process.
Meanwhile, SHG said it is continuing work in support of its pre-application planning submission which envisages building housing and business units on the 113-acre site, at Derriford. The AIM-listed company last year revealed a triple-phased development plan which it said would not disrupt the runway until the final, third phase, following a further five-year safeguard period.
