SOME people think women can't be funny. Those people are wrong and two Plymouth comics are out to prove it.

Award-winning comedian Suzy Bennett and comedy writer Laura Horton have teamed up to present a show called I Don’t Usually Find Women Funny, which debuts at Steel Brew, in the Royal William Yard, on Monday, December 1, at 7pm.

The pair said the line ‘I don’t usually find women funny’ is something every comic has heard at some time.

Suzy and Laura said they have heard it so many times they are devoting their new night to it.

They put out a call asking people to respond to the comment and have so far received an amazing response from comedians including Dawn French, Lori Smith and the current Cornish Comedian of the year Melanie Drew.

In 2024 Suzy and Laura worked together for the first time on adult panto Ciderella and, as Laura sat down to watch the first preview, a couple told her they had come because they liked Suzy, but didn’t find women funny otherwise. It inspired a slightly awkward conversation and the idea for this comedy night.
