UK inflation falls sharply to 3.2% as food prices rise more slowly

UK inflation fell more than expected in November amid a slowdown in food price rises.
The headline rate is now at its lowest level since March, clearing the way for the Bank of England to cut interest rates today.The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said inflation as measured by the consumer prices index had eased to 3.2% last month, down from 3.6% in October. Economists had forecast a more modest drop to 3.5%.
Strengthening the case for the Bank to cut borrowing costs, the slowdown was fuelled by falling pre-Christmas food prices and Black Friday discounts.
