Two detainees and suspect killed during 'anti-Ice' shooting at Dallas immigration office

Two detainees were killed and another was injured in a shooting at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) field office in Dallas yesterday morning, officials said.

Authorities also confirmed that the shooter had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. NBC News, citing senior law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation, reported that the suspect had been identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn.

The Dallas police department said that officers had responded to a call at approximately 6.40am yesterday.

"The preliminary investigation determined that a suspect opened fire at a government building from an adjacent building," the police said in a statement. "Two people were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. One victim died at the scene. The suspect is deceased."

Later, the Department of Homeland Security said two of the victims were dead, and the other was in a critical condition. "The shooter fired indiscriminately at the Ice building, including at a van in the sallyport [controlled entry area] where the victims were shot," they said. "Three detainees were shot."
