Soup company pushing the benefits of its broccoli
I magine eating a bowl of soup once a week that could help lower your blood sugar levels and thereby reduc e your risk of developing type 2 diabetes . It might sound like wishful thinking or the latest food fad, but the science-based food company Smarter Food claims that this is already a reality for their customers.
The secret, according to the company , is the star ingredient of their vegetable soup: a type of broccoli first discovered growing wild in Sicily by Smarter Food’s lead scientist, Prof Richard Mithen . After years of research and plant breeding, it has developed a new strain of broccoli called GRextra , which it grows and processes into soup in Scotland.
