Man arrested after shooting of eight-year-old in London

A 22-year-old man has been arrested after an eight-year-old girl was seriously wounded when shots were fired into a car in west London.
The child was in the vehicle with her 34-year-old father, who was also seriously injured, a two-year-old sibling and her mother, 32, both of whom escaped physical injury.
The Metropolitan police said the man was arrested shortly after the shooting on suspicion of attempted murder.
Local people helped the family, including one who brought a duvet from their home and placed it over the child and her father as they waited for paramedics. The shooting happened at about 5.30pm on Sunday in Southern Row, Ladbroke Grove.
