Arsenal agree Gyökeres deal and Anfield side fend off late United bid for Frenchman
Liverpool have completed the signing of Hugo Ekitiké from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the striker rejecting a late attempt by Manchester United to hijack the deal.
The move came on a big day for forwards in the Premier League as Marcus Rashford completed a loan switch to Barcelona, while Arsenal edged closer to the signature of long-time target Viktor Gyökeres.
Ekitiké, a France Under-21 international, has joined the Premier League champions for a guaranteed £69m plus £10m in add-ons, having undergone a medical in the UK on Tuesday.
He is understood to have signed a six-year contract and will meet up with his new teammates on their pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Japan.
Ekitiké was a longstanding target for Liverpool, despite their interest in the Newcastle centre-forward Alexander Isak, and contact was first made with the 23-year-old's representatives in January.
Arne Slot then outlined his plans for the striker in a call at the end of last season.
