Yorkshire pair hit tons as England chase win

HARRY Brook and Joe Root hit centuries - but England's hopes of clinching the series against India still hang in the balance after another dramatic day at The Oval.

The two Yorkshiremen put on 195 in a fourth wicket stand that took England to within 80 runs of a 3-1series victory, only for both to fallin the closing stages before bad light and rain brought an early end to the fourth day.

England closed on 339 for six, needing 35 more runs from Jamie Smith and the tailenders today.

Mohammed Siraj had snatched the momentum with the last act on Saturday evening, bowling Zak Crawley with a clinical yorker, and India made a promising start by removing Ben Duckett (54) and Ollie Pope (27) in yesterday's morning session.
