KIM Hellberg admits he was blown away by some of his Middlesbrough team’s moves in their win over QPR.
-
Boro made it four wins from four under the new head coach as they won 3-1 courtesy of goals from David Strelec, Morgan Whittaker and a penalty from Tommy Conway.
It was another superb performance, highlighting yet more entertaining, high-tempo football that has been ever-present so far under the Swede.
And though he is ultimately the man leading the changes to Boro’s attacking play, he admits even he was surprised by just how good some of the football against QPR was.
"It's another great win,” he said. “I felt during the gamebecause that's the feeling sometimes you can get as a coach - that, ‘is this the day where things do not go our way?'
“Because I think we played brilliant in the first 25 minutes and we create so many opportunities. You get to think like, ‘if we're not scoring those goals...
“And of course we face a good team; a very good team. They've won four of their last five, and they have good players, good speed, good in the counter.
“We do so well in the first 25 minutes, you think that it's going to change a little bit in the first half. But we just kept improving, we kept the momentum of the game in a brilliant way, and that's why it was so strong from the players to do that.
“Sometimes, I just looked at the players in the first half and thought, ‘Wow, there is so much quality there’. There were so many situations where we showed so much quality.
“I think we had 76% of the ball, and it felt like such a quick game where we had so much control of it. We were very good in transition, and the reaction was very good when we lost the ball.”
player that runs to him when he does that assist. Morgan scores a goal, 70 metres from him and runs all the way down to celebrate!
