APPEAL FOR INFORMATION AFTER ATTACK BY 'XL BULLY' TYPE DOG

- By NAOMI CORRIGAN

A WOMAN was left injured and severely distressed after being attacked by a dog while trying to protect her tiny pet.

Christina Cheesbrough, who is suffering from heart problems, was knocked to the ground and bitten as she tried to hold her chihuahua Bobby away from the dog’s jaws.

Describing the dog as possibly as an XL bully, she said she is now afraid it will attack someone else, and possibly a young child.

The 65-year-old was left needing hospital treatment after suffering a broken arm, bruising to her back and a black eye from where she was barged to the ground by the animal.

Bobby, whom she describes as her support dog, managed to flee back into her home. Christina says he has been too afraid to come out again since.

The attack occurred just before 10am on Saturday, September 27. Cleveland Police is investigating and has appealed for anyone with information which could help in the inquiry to come forward.
