'We wanted to turn our pain into purpose'

AN Eaglescliffe couple say they wanted to turn their pain into purpose after their little boy was born sleeping at 17 weeks. Jen Openshaw had a completely health pregnancy with three health scans.

But sadly, on August 20, Jen and partner Matthew Tweddle sadly lost their little boy, Arthur Matthew Tweddle, who was born at 17 weeks. The 32-year-old said: “Miscarriage is something no parent should ever go through but late miscarriage was particularly tough.

“It has broken our hearts but we wanted to turn our pain into purpose and help those who supported us and help others who may one day face this same difficult time.”

Now, the couple have raised more than £6,000 for the North Tees and HartlepoolNHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund.

Arthur was born at Stockton’s University Hospital of North Tees in the Snowdrop Suite.
