One-Day success can drive us to bigger things - Bess

YORKSHIRE and Durham both have an eye on the knockout stages of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup when they meet at Scarborough today (11am).

Yorkshire lead a tight Group B with four wins from five games and 16 points. Durham are down in fifth but are not far behind on 12 points having won three from six.

With three games remaining, the top three teams in the group secure qualification for at least the quarterfinals. The group winner advances directly through to the semifinals.

For Yorkshire, captain Dom Bess believes winning the trophy could be the start of bigger things to come for the county.

“With the group we've got now, there should be no reason why we shouldn't be getting to, obviously, quarters and semifinals,” the off-spin bowling all-rounder told the Yorkshire CCC website.

“Once you get there, then it’s game by game and can you play the best cricket on the day?”
