Murder arrest as Teesside dad dies in house explosion

David Howard died in the huge explosion in John Street, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, on Saturday evening. The 53-year-old is believed to originate from Hartlepool, previously attending the town's former Brierton Comprehensive School, in Brierton Lane.

Neighbours from his home of the last 20 years paid tribute to him, with one describing him as “the nicest bloke you could ever meet”. Emergency services were called to the area at 7.39pm on Saturday and police confirmed the identity of the victim on Monday afternoon, April 14.

Nottinghamshire Police say Mr How-ard's daughters have been informed of his death and are being supported by specially trained officers. The force revealed on Tuesday, April 15, that a 43-year-old man was arrested and questioned on suspicion of murder - but has since been bailed pending further inquiries.

Mr Howard's Facebook page details that he is from Hartlepool and attended Brierton school, with a post saying: “Made in Hartlepool Lives in Nottingham!”
