Mum’s new business inspired by her kids

A proud mum of neurodiverse triplets says her own kids inspired her to set up an autism-friendly piercing business.

Jade Wilcock’s new venture, Ink Driver Piercings, is for children and adults, but specialises in offering a safe place for autistic children to get their ears pierced.

Based at 10 Station Road, Billingham, it shares the premises with Simon Wilson's tattoo business, Ink Driver Tattoo.

For Jade, it’s been quite the career switch, having been a teacher for 19 years - including the last seven as an acting teacher at Bede Sixth Form College in Billingham.

But a desire to do something new - and to make things easier for neurodiverse children - drove her piercing plan. She explained: “It mainly came from becoming a parent and having my neurodiverse children - I call them neurospicy.
