Man put lit cigarettes out on ex-partner's leg

Sam Watson was sentenced to three years and three months

Sam Watson came at the woman with the weapon, which contained two Stanley blades, and put two lit cigarettes out on her leg.

Teesside Crown Court heard how the 32-year-old entered the woman's home through an insecure window after he had been out drinking.

He then made his way up to her bedroom and lit a cigarette.

When she asked him to smoke out of the window, he responded by putting the lit cigarette out on her leg. Nigel Soppitt, prosecuting, told the court: "She describes him as acting like Jekyll and Hyde.

"The defendant came towards her with what (the victim) describes as a shank - a piece of plastic with two blades melted into it.

"He swung it towards her. She moved out of the way but it caught her on the leg.
