Man attacked people with walking stick during brawl

A STREET brawler used another man’s walking stick to attack members of the public during a fight outside a supermarket.

Liam French was captured on CCTV throwing his beer can towards a member of the public and punching others during a mass brawl in Eastbourne Road, Middlesbrough, near the Herron Supermarket, on April 29.

The 32-year-old initially denied affray and elected a trial by jury but on the day of his pretrial preparation hearing at Teesside Crown Court he admitted the single charge.

On Thursday, CCTV footage was played in court showing French taking off his blue jacket and appearing agitated in the street - sparking two security guards to approach the scene.
